Design and Technology Intent

At Lymington CE (Aided) Infant we believe that our design and technology curriculum encourages pupils to have courage to innovate and solve problems.  We want our children to have a good understanding of why products are designed and consider how they fit within their daily lives and the wider world.

The curriculum will teach the knowledge, which will enable pupils to have a good understanding of the process of designing and making.  From this, pupils should develop an enjoyment and satisfaction when designing and making products for a clear purpose, whilst respecting the environment in their choice of materials.  We aim to, wherever possible, link work to other disciplines such as Mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. Children are also given opportunities to reflect upon and evaluate past and present design technology, its uses and its effectiveness and are encouraged to become innovators and risk-takers.
